A quick lunch stop before hitting the shops on Smith Street in search of football boots for A*, led us to Beans & Bagels on the corner of Brunswick & Johnston Street. This is my go-to place for bagels and I'm glad that it's still as good as I remember after a 2 year hiatus from my behalf.
We ordered up at the counter and were given a number for the food to be brought out to us. I ordered a flat white while A* had a long mac. My flat white was normal, however A*'s long mac was a bit perculiar as it came larger than usual and it tasted more like a syphoned coffee rather than a long mac.
I had the New Yorker which had Smoked Salmon, Capers, Onion & Greens with Cream Cheese - this is my favourite bagel combination. The bagels are freshly made and they don't skimp on the fillings.
A* had the West Sider which came with Avocado, Ham & Honey Mustard with Cream Cheese. I'm not a big fan of ham but this bagel was surprisingly good - The honey mustard gave a slight sweetness to the ham and the generous chunks of avocado were relished.
I usually buy some Blueberry Bagels to take home for breakfast for the next few days but I was afraid they wouldn't last in the car so I'll just have to come back another day for them, which I'll happily do so.
Will I return? Yes, I always come back here to pick up my blueberry bagels.
