Huxtaburger is one of the must try burgers in Melbourne with more rave reviews than not, although it was only recently that I was finally able to try the burgers. I was fairly certain that Huxtaburger was closed on Mondays from a previous failed visit but we decided to drive by and low and behold, it was open! It turns out that from the 7th of January onwards, Huxtaburger would be open all seven days of the week. The burger menu expands upon the original huxtaburger which includes the usual elements of a good burger - beef pattie, mustard, mayo, tomato sauce, tomato, cheese, lettuce and pickles.
The guys couldn't go past the sound of the Theo with its double pattie and they thoroughly enjoyed it. They loved the sweet bun and the juicy patties with the melted cheese but thought it got soggy too quickly.
My chilli tolerance is fairly low but even then, I resist the sound of the sriracha mayo so I ordered the Denise burger. Everyone's patties were consistently cooked with a touch of pink inside which perfect in my opinion, and the sriracha mayo added a spicy kick to it although I ended up picking out most of the jalapenos as it got too much for my taste buds. Although the chips appear to be the standard frozen crinkle cut chips, they were fluffy inside, crisp outside and well salted.
Food: 7.5/10
Service: 7.5/10
Value: 8/10
Will I return? Yes, a simple and fresh burger I will come back for.

YUM I really love Huxtaburger but I think the Beatbox Truck does a slightly better burger. In Northcote most Wednesdays down the road on Ruckers Hill.
ReplyDeleteHavent heard of Rockwell and sons so thanks for the tip!
Beatbox do the burgers at Rooftop Bar right? I only know them by smell but they smell amazing! I've been meaning to try but these food trucks always evade me. Check out Rockwell and sons, soo good :)
DeleteWow, looks amazing. A few places to rival Andrews Hamburgers in South Melbourne?
ReplyDeleteYet to try Andrews but have heard its a good 'dirty burger' :)
DeleteI absolutely love huxtaburger! I don't know if it's because it's the first gourmet burger I had, or because it's seriously good, but it's probably my favourite burger to date. Sounds like a re-visit is needed!
ReplyDeleteI really liked it but you should check out Rockwell and Sons, no lettuce or tomato so not as healthy, all double patty and american cheese glory
DeleteCatherine!
ReplyDeleteMan, I still need to go and check Huxtaburger out! SOON!!! Soon i tell you :)
Love,
Peach
