Do you recall the last time you walked into a cafe and every single staff member in sight turned to welcome you with a friendly smile. Well, that’s how our visit to Addict Food and Coffee started off; I could feel the refreshing neighbourly vibes oozing out of every crevice of this cafe. Addict Food and Coffee is a young’un; having only finished their third week of trading today, the space is clean, aesthetically pleasing with plenty of natural light flowing in. The menu is solid and concise with their own play on the typical breakfast menu staples and unique enough to rekindle my addiction for brunch.
La Condesa Taqueria is not breaking new ground, you’ve heard it all before – it’s a small taqueria with the total items on the menu being so concise that you could count them on the fingers of your hands. Apart from the small window front, the rest of the area is in a sort of makeshift beer garden hidden off a back alleyway.
The smell hits you as soon as you walk in – pungent, intense, nutty all in one hit. Our friends are seated at the communal table down the back but we can’t help lingering by the display windows filled with copious and seemingly never-ending wheels and wedges of cheese hailing from all over the world. Mmm… cheese.
Happy New Year, readers! I hope this festive season has been as kind to your bellies as it has been to us – so much food. With 2014 ahead of us, I wish all of my readers luck with their resolutions (if you’ve made any) – my 2014 resolution is to live by the 3 E’s: Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy. There’s enough negativity in this world as it is; so let the haters drink their Haterade and we’ll enjoy the good food!
Cheers and onto the first review of the year. Hello, 2014 🙂
